In keeping with emerging trends in microfinance banking, Women’s World Banking Ghana (WWBG) continues its commitment to innovation with the deployment of a digital writing solution from ExpeData . To enhance field banking services to its customers, WWBG is implementing new account opening procedures in remote areas where banking is often not readily available or convenient. Leveraging Anoto® digital pen and paper technology, the ExpeData EDW™ digital writing platform solution facilitates account origination activities from anywhere in Ghana.
The EDW solution enables WWBG field staff to complete account application forms with a digital pen when meeting with rural customers. The paper forms are similar in appearance to WWBG’s current account opening forms and are completed as one would normally complete a paper form. The handwriting captured on the form is routed in near real-time using wireless mobile devices. The ExpeData EDW technology converts the handwritten information to electronic data and digital images which are available for immediate use by downstream banking systems. WWBG staff has the ability to easily submit the account origination transaction without scanning or data entry.
Utilizing this technology also enables WWGB to maintain the legal protection of having a paper document with original signatures.
